REPORT ON MELBOURNE  CONVENTION - 2006

Melbourne, April  16 , The Basava Smathi of Australiasia  Melbourne Chapter organised a   Sharana Samskruthi Sammelana - Melbourne Convention 2006 on Sunday 16 April 2006 at Wellington,Secondary College, 91, Police Road, Mulgrave, Melbourne.

 

The noble objective of this Convention is spreading Basava philosophy across Asia Pacific Region – Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane, Singapore and New Zealand Chapters.

The Convention was started   at 8.00 am and inaugurated by lighting up a traditional lamp by  divine presence of His Holiness Sri Ma Ni Pra Guru Mahant Swamji, Chittaragi-Ilkal and by Sri Dr M N  Channabasappa, Director & Principal SIT, Tumkur who was the chief guest .The presidents of various  chapters have presented activities reports and  followed by devotional songs by  members and Mrs Kasturi Shankar, renowned playback singer.

The afternoon session started with discussion forum on topics such  ‘Challenge for spread of Basava philosophy’, ’Women contribution to Basava philosophy’,
’How to motivate younger generation to cultivate in Basava philosophy’ and ’How to lead a happy life by spirituality’. These were quite exciting topics with lot of brainstorming speeches by members and finally  a review commentary done by Swamiji and chief guest.

The Evening program was started with cultural programs  such as group songs by members, group songs by children of Melbourne chapters and other chapters. There were two Bharatnatyam  staged by Melbourne and Brisbane Chapters.

The centre point of attraction was a beautiful drama “Anubhavamantappa” staged by children of Melbourne chapter which send out a   clear message about Basava philiosphy.  Candle light dance by girls, emphasizing  BASAVA light leading to spiritual enlightment.  Then followed by Swamiji Asheervachana, Souvenir release, prize distribution, sumptuous dinner and melodious musical concert by Kasturi Shankar.

The Convention was a jubilant success. There were about 350 peoples witnessed  and rejoiced the event.

The organizing committee of BSOA – Melbourne chapter have meticulousely planned and  well organised . This has been rated as one of the best program staged in Melbourne
